Re: Runecats website and programs
It depends it costs me $50 a year but I have unlimted bandwidth and alot of space which I don't need.
I am sure you could find a good host and get it for as little as $18 a year.
and no the Runecats website was made in HTML and flash not java.

Cats, the Site was made using HTML (XHTML?) not Flash.
You only have one flash element
Re: Runecats website and programs
Java is better then flash.
For example, go to my site thats hosted on 110mb.com and I think it looks pretty cool
Well, it can be free, if you host with 110mb.com or that other one dojan said awhile ago and make the site with a free html editor (I use Nvu)I lern how to script I would like to make a site similare to yours (with a fourm videos blog game downloads ect.) how much would it cost?

Re: Runecats website and programs
I totally agree with you that Java is better than flash. You can make amazing applications, and the plus side is that it is platform independent. Flash on the other hand needs to be polished a little.hellblade wrote:Java is better then flash.Well, it can be free, if you host with 110mb.com or that other one dojan said awhile ago and make the site with a free html editor (I use Nvu)I lern how to script I would like to make a site similare to yours (with a fourm videos blog game downloads ect.) how much would it cost?

Flash need to be polished alot Flash recomends something like 2ghz cpu, so I get alot of lag depending on what it is but Java runs better, I get no lag what so ever. Re: Runecats website and programs
I get no lag from flash what so ever, nor does any computers in my whole area that I have seen, What company do you deal with for your broadband and what speed is it?
I use Komposer alot for website scripting, It's an un-official bug fixed version of NVU, you can download it from NVU's website.

I get lag from flash, the computer doesnt lag, but the flash files do, so playing a game can be really difficult.
You should only use the bugfixed version if you have experienced the bugs, and not many do.

Re: Runecats website and programs
So how do you get graphics and things on an HTML site? I'm really new to HTML but i'd like to learn how to make a nice looking site with it
Re: Runecats website and programs
Well there is code for it, you could view tutorials it's not very hard, but you may find it time consuming, if you use a program like Frontpage or Dreamweaver you can just insert an image as you would a word document, although these programs cost money.
NVU is a free website maker you may want to start with something like this before you start using HTML. (you can insert images in NVU)

Re: Runecats website and programs
Well, HTML is rather simple and a lot like English.C0c1 wrote:So how do you get graphics and things on an HTML site? I'm really new to HTML but i'd like to learn how to make a nice looking site with it
Anyhow, here is how to insert a image:
- Code:
<img src="path-to-image/image.name"/>
This is a really good HTML tutorial that W3Schols have made, when you get a grip of HTML, check out Javascript and CSS too.
But Microsoft ain't making Frontpage anymore, the latest is Frontpage 2003.Cats11112 wrote:Well there is code for it, you could view tutorials it's not very hard, but you may find it time consuming, if you use a program like Frontpage or Dreamweaver you can just insert an image as you would a word document, although these programs cost money.

Instead of Frontpage they have made Microsoft Visual WebDeveloper, which is a lot like Frontpage and can be downloaded for free here.
The express editions are fully free, you get a 30 days evaluation though, but after you register, which is free, you can use it unlimited. So it is fully free.
NVU has problems with Inline frames, and it is a bit unstable, so I personally do not recommend it for other than very simple sites.
Re: Runecats website and programs
Hmm I thought Micro$ofts new Frontpage was Sharpoint
Kompozer is a bug free version of NVU.

Re: Runecats website and programs
Well I found a image tut online on youtube and it showed me how to put an image in but it just gives me that red "X"
Re: Runecats website and programs
Or it's in the wrong format. If it's like a bitmap or other kind of image file it won't process.
Re: Runecats website and programs
1. Nothing can get bug-freeCats11112 wrote:Hmm I thought Micro$ofts new Frontpage was Sharpoint
Kompozer is a bug free version of NVU.
2. The difference between Kompozer and NVU is that it uses KDE whilst NVU uses GTK, and there is one smaller bug fixed.
