Velo compilation history
This is a rather long story, I'll short it down a little.
As you know, Cats and I are making a Operating System, Linux based.
As you also should know we have had big troubles making it.
I remember how it all started when we actually talked on MSN, we usually came on different times, but finally we got around to talk. I also remember how one of us said that we should make something together. The day after we talked I came up with an idea of making a Window Manager for Linux, and maybe port it to Windows later on. I can't really remember how we actually got on the path of creating a OS, though I think that I said that starting off by making a WM might be a little complicated. So I suggested that we first make a OS and then we make the WM. And so we did.
That was in March this year, and a lot of stuff have happened since.
We have developed three different themes, Cats made a lot of things, we shared the work on researching and after a few fails we actually got a build. It didn't work however, and at that point we begun from scratch.
Yesterday was a BIG step in the production of Velo.
It began with a PM from cats to me telling that someone in her class said that Velo looked good, and asking how long it would take compiling Velo.
I logged on MSN a few minutes after I read that and Cats was online.
So I asked Cats what the specs of her strongest PC was, and after lots of time I actually got the idea of compiling it in Parrallels.
After a few hours we had created three partitions, one to hold the sources, one SWAP and one that will hold the final system (Though I don't think I told Cats why we need 3 partitions). However, since Cats is still fairly new to UNIX and GNU/Linux I had to monitor the process did and pinpoint in the right direction.
We ended up sharing screens and I explained how to do this and how to do that and eventually most things was set up. Fairly smooth.
Right now I don't know how the compilation is going, good I hope though. And in a week or so you can expect to see Velo out, unless we bump into more problems.

Were implementing a GUI in the Server Edition (Shortened SE) and we'll probably begin the normal version tomorrow.
Re: Velo compilation history
Finally!
Almost everything goes well for us today, or yesterday.
GNOME is done, we added some extra GNOME packages, Xorg and Firefox is done, now we have to configure a little and then add some additional programs.
So, we are really close to get done.
And not only that!
As some of you might know (I believe I posted it here on the forums) I sen't a email to the ones maintaining distrowatch.com, and yesterday, I got this PM by Cats.
So, basically, we're on the waiting list, we got a GUI, and we have done HUGE steps forward in just a matter of days!
The GUI is not 100% done right now, and I prefer not sending screenies, since, well, um, it isn't behaving well, but I think I'm actually sorting that out too.
