New version of GIMP

The new GIMP version is 2.6.1, anyone else than me tried it out?
There are some new features that I personally dislike.
For instance, first time opening gimp it looked like this:

I prefer to have two windows, and this canvas was 100% unnessecary, however, close that and you will close gimp.
I guess I'll have to cope with it...

It's a graphics program basically, like photoshop, fireworks, paintshop pro. don't know if you have heard of those. it allows you to create graphics, edit graphics, using layers, filters, fill, paint brushes and many other features

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a advanced, free, open source raster graphics editor which works on multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac, pretty much everything). GIMP uses the GTK+ engine to draw the graphical user interface.

Explaining stuff never has been my strong point, about of my IT course is recommending PC's or PC components to a company with no computer experience, I then have to explain why I picked these things in basic form as these people don't know much about computers
