Challange
Hey,
This is a little test lets see who is hte smartest to work this out first:
There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks. In each back pack there are 7 big cats.
For every 1 big cat there are 7 small cats.
The driver is NOT on the bus.
How many legs are there on the bus?
NOTE:
IF YOU GET THE ANSWER SHOW HOW YOU WORKED IT OUT!!

Re: Challange
Well the girls may have a backpack but is the back pack in the bus?
If there are I will say 1584 (however there maybe slightly less as there maybe a legless girl or a 3 legged cat!)

How many legs are on the bus?
Ok...
7 girls = 14 legs
7 girls = 49 backpacks = 343 big cats = 1372 legs
343 big cats = 2401 small cats = 9604 legs
Adding them all up = 10990 legs

Re: Challange
what about if there is a 3 legged cat? No where on that "challege" does it say how many legs a cat has or the humans to that matter.
Re: Challange
Ok let me amend by calculation
There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks. In each back pack there are 7 big cats.
For every 1 big cat there are 7 small cats.
How many legs are on the bus?
Ok...
ASSUMING:
ALL GIRLS ON THE BUS HAVE 2 LEGS
ALL CATS ON THE BUS HAVE 4 LEGS
ALL BIG CATS ON THE BUS HAVE 4 LEGS
& NO ONE ELSE IS HIDDEN ON THE BUS THEN....
7 girls = 14 legs
7 girls = 49 backpacks = 343 big cats = 1372 legs
343 big cats = 2401 small cats = 9604 legs
Adding them all up = 10990 legs

Re: Challange
Still not totally correct as you said no one is hidden in the bus, that means that there could be an insect hidden in the bus, you would need to right no living thing in is hidden in the bus
But even then it may not be correct because there could be a doll in the backpack for example and dolls have legs so you would need to say assuming there is nothing else within the bus with legs

Re: Challange
Haha, you are being very literal
However, you over looked something, "nothing else within the bus with legs" that does not account for random legs on the bus, because legs do not have legs...so maybe it would have to be "with no other legs on the bus" Haha, that might not be right but meh....

Re: Challange
Ok....
Also add this assumption to my answer.
Assuming the bus will explode if there is any other number apart from 10990 legs from either living or non living or any other thing that may have legs or even just legs themselves then there are 10990 legs on the bus.

Re: Challange
Yes... Because teachers often give people 8 months to do homework.
Anywho, a new puzzle is on order. Nathan, would you like the honour of choosing a new challenge?
