Re: Networking a back up!
So far, Windows 7 seems pretty stable - so far I don't think even any application I've run has crashed, let alone the OS crashing or doing something wrong or w/e ....
Re: Networking a back up!
Hmm, you just be the lucky minority, how long have you had it for?
Someone at my work place paid £1200 for a windows 7 laptop and it crashed when he clicked on the network icon to connect to the wifi in the taskbar
I thought it was quite funny, but he didn't see the funny side

Re: Networking a back up!
I've had it for maybe two or three weeks - I got a better computer from a friend too (my old computer wouldn't have been able to run Win7 )
And I'm getting my sisters old laptop tomorrow - similar to this computer but it's got a bigger hard drive which is good
Haha, maybe the laptop just didn't like him

Re: Networking a back up!
I got my sister's old laptop yesterday - that had many problems with her, but I restored it to factory and put on Win7 Ultimate and it runs well for me
I like my laptop

Re: Networking a back up!
Yeah, WinXP is quite stable, although it's not the best with newer computers, sometimes......

Re: Networking a back up!
Our wifi is amazing and the wired internet is fast too, but the network (the area we save our work to) is often down, I save locally now and back up on my memory stick and on the Runecats Server
The computers at our uni arn't too bad I just compare them to my high end PC's and my Macs
I still have a real issue with XP, I can't take it seriously I mean it looks like a theme for a playschool or kindergarten, and the icons are so pixelly, and it really isn't fast I don't care what anyone says, it's no faster than vista but is more stable.

Re: Networking a back up!
Well, Windows XP is nine years old now
Compared to Vista and 7 it doesn't look too good (my school makes it use the classic theme which is even worse ) but it's not that bad. Although, you say "the icons are so pixelly", I've never thought this... maybe the videocards being used don't have the proper drivers installed.
My school had gotten some new computers earlier in the year, because the old ones were horrible - worse then my old computer, they only had 256mb RAM but their processor was faster than my old computer, but the lack of RAM slowed them down greatly. The new ones had problems running XP though, sometimes they'd shut down, programs wouldn't work, taskbar wouldn't show, network drives don't show. Most of the problems go away after you log out and log back in again though
Haha, my schools internet is bad too - well it's NZ so all internet is quite bad - it's shared between the network, so when many people use it, it goes REALLY slowly, slower than dial up

Lol good luck with that, at my school youtube was blocked, luckily it's not at college
Re: Networking a back up!
Youtube is blocked, on google search next to the link it says "cached" you can watch them like that.
