[performance] Turn off the background tabs loading on app start by default
Some of the browsers can handle more than 60 tabs with ease, while others freeze and act very slow with huge memory load even on 8 tabs. Those browsers that open many tabs correctly, don't load all the pages in background tabs. They load the selected tab instead, and then only those tabs you switch to.
My Firefox can open 260 tabs at start, in the saved browsing session. It renders the tabbar and loads the selected tab, taking only the memory amount you need.
It's a serious performance issue.
You can add a setting to turn off this behavior. Also, some browsers have pinned tabs or "app tabs" that load every time you can add this feature if you worry that tba loading on demand can interfere with someone's workflow.

Also, Roccat isn't that lightweight. It can occupy 400Mb, but even on small amount of tabs, say, 12 or 20, it immediately overweights 1Gb and 1.1Gb.

20 tabs isnt typically called a 'small amount' of tabs - More ram will be used if you are using VisiTabs.
You can turn off tabs on restart by going Roccat>Preferences
then head to On Exit preferences and change Clear Tab Session to YES.

Re: [performance] Turn off the background tabs loading on app start by default
"Don't load background tabs on app start until you switch to them" isn't the setting, needed if you start with blank window, anyway. But if you do save session on exit, this setting can dramatically reduce memory load and maximize performance. For example, Firefox doesn't think that even 280 tabs are too many. It loads just the active tab and Pinned Tabs, and paints tabbar nothing more. It even have addon allowing to unload tabs. That gives you a way to clear memory without closing a tab that will be needed later.

Thanks for the clarification - I will pass this onto the dev team to look at, along with your other suggestions and bugs.

P.S. Also, there is interesting session mechanism in OmniWeb. You can Take Snapshot at any time (save session). So that you can save it, then open 150 tabs to work with, then relaunch and get only those tabs you've saved.
Even better could be to save (mark) individual tabs to open next time. Each of those will be mark to save in session on each app launch, until you unmark it.

In Roccat you can create an RClouds account where you can save the session to RClouds and restore it whenever you like (Can even view the session on your iOS devices with Roccat:Connect) and you can restore from any mac and switch between sessions.
