Re: Windows XP
Another good idea would be to clean the Disk defragment the system fix errors on the drive disable the indexing service disabling the theme service go back the Win98 theme and finally clean the registry.hellblade wrote:BTW, if you have XP and it starts going slower then normal, reinstall windows, it should fix it.
Easier since you wont have to export all your mail favourites documents reinstall all theese vital programs you cant live without as Photoshop CS3 GIMP Firefox Maxthon .Net Framework 3.5 Visual Studio Express Suite Office 2007 ZoneAlarm MuBlinder Avira AntivirPersonal AVG EasyCleaner NetObjects Fusion FrontPage 2003 Windows Live suite poweriso etc. And that is just like 5% of all the vital programs i cant live without.

256MB RAM
800MHz CPU
160 Gig HDD (ATA)
32MB GPU
Re: Windows XP
I want to put up a video about it on YouTube but my camera is out of batteries.
And i could always record the desktop but that takes RAM.
Re: Windows XP
see.... if you had more RAM you would be able too... sure you can run on a little bit of RAM but after a little while.. with a 160 gb HDD it will start to run slow... gimme a list of games that you play and programs that you have downloaded...

It was ages ago i played a game like that, although i played RuneScape on Vista last week.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Adobe Flash CS3 Gimp2.*(♥) NVU NetObjects Fusion 10 Microsoft Office 2007 (The complete suite) etc etc.
Sorry for not giving complete list, i dont have the energy.
Re: Windows XP
Lonewolf, vista doesn't need 3gb! Microsoft said 512mb minimum but 1gb recomended, but they must be wrong, since dojan has 256 ram
Re: Windows XP
They have put 512 as a minimum.hellblade wrote:Lonewolf, vista doesn't need 3gb! Microsoft said 512mb minimum but 1gb recomended, but they must be wrong, since dojan has 256 ram
You cant install Vista on 256MB unless you patch the WinSetup.dll file to bypass the memory check.
So if that is not done you will not be able to run it.
But i have a friend who installed XP on 64MB ram...
It is really sluggish.
Re: Windows XP
okay look there is this guy i know his name is jason. he does all the computer stuff for the whole city. he took and bought vista. he put it on a computer with 1 gb of RAM. we opened WoW, Guild Wars and bout 2 gimp and a photoshop... the computer wuz laggin after WoW! we put in 2 gigs and it lagged after Guildwars.. after 3 gigs of memory we could open all those things and MORE like Macromedia flash 3 virtual machine (XP, UBUNTU, Leopard) plus while playing the games and didn't start lagging till we had 35 HIGH graphical programs running...

Re: Windows XP
Who would possibly play two games having three virtual machines having multiple gimps and photoshops at the same time?
It makes no sence.
Back on topic guys, this belongs to the Vista thread, not in XP.

Xp - does that stand for something?

I know NT stands for Network Technology (I think)
maybe Xp stands for xtra programs or xtra people

A NT system (Windows XP, Vista, me, etc.) cannot get Blue Screen Of Death.
XP stands for eXPerience (LAME!). Windows XP's code name was Whistler.
Between XP and Vista there was a never released OS called Longhorn (Not the Vista Beta) and originally Vista's codename was Blackcomb (Which they later took to windows 7 and called that blackcomb before renaming it to Windows 7 or Vienna).
Longhorn was never released, and with the WinFS removed people wherent expecting much from it.
Bill Gates's words?
I dont think that the world is ready for it.
Pffffft!!!
Re: Windows XP
i prefer XP over Vista
mostly cause of the games, and that the Vista MS PAINT lies when you choose a colour

Re: Windows XP
Come on Dojan Runecats + K-Designs for world domination, me will make XP look like pee!
vista mspaint is very un-different to xp with a few extra features so it's still better.
but yet again i don't like Microsoft.

Re: Windows XP
Not all differences are to the better.
But i think that Vista MS paint look somewhat similar to the one in 3.1
